Root Layers - Who's using this besides me?

It's a great sign that there is not a constant deluge of questions for this phone but because of that, there seems to be a lot of inactivity here for our phone. I've tried to stimulate conversation in the ROMs thread but that barely worked a few times. So, now I want to see who is using Layers? This thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/official-layers-bitsyko-apps-rro-t3012172) will fill you in on all the information. LP has given us Layers and the community is responding very well with quick, creative ways to personalize your phone even more.

DISCLAIMER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read the linked xda thread before attempting to utilize Layers! I am not responsible for any issues with your device.

On the community page there are a ton of options. Jeremy Beck is pumping out full theme after full theme. Very solid work from him. I am using his Black Neon Orange. Screenshots are available at https://plus.google.com/photos/1006...389&sqsi=d31773fe-c129-4ede-bab0-869bc7870274

*Tried to add a tag for "Layers" but I apparently do not have permission to do so? Hmmm.

I haven't tried layers yet but I do plan to. I've been following the Bitsyko Development g+ community from the start and those guys are doing some amazing work :thumbsupdroid:

Added the tag for you. :thumbsupdroid:

I don't OPO, but this sounds pretty nifty. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. The XDA thread says to make sure your ROM is compatible with Layers, but doesn't (seem) to mention what makes it compatible. I also see it mentioned, both on the Wiki and the Play Store page, that Layers is useful for stock AOSP stuff. I'm assuming it still requires root, and some manner of framework though?

Yeah as far as I know the developer has to bake something into the rom to support it.
I think it was created by Sony who pushed it into aosp

OK... now I have OxygenOS on my oneplus I'm going to have a play with this and see what I can do (assuming I can get my head around it)

Thanks for the heads up :D

It continues to become more user friendly. In the beginning, it was a giant PITA. Just a heads up if this is still an issue for some. If your Play Store keeps crashing when trying to update apps, just remove the individual layer for the Play Store. So far, that is the only hiccup I had. They are pumping out some high quality, good looking pieces.

OK.. what I've learnt is to make sure I have a backup before I apply any layers.... The Settings layer from the very nice black and Gold theme that i picked at random didn't seem to work on my oneplus... After it applied I couldn't see any of the lables only the icons... removing the lay

As I stated that it has become more user-friendly, I should have probably said it is still not the best. What app are you using and what process are you following? Did you grant root privileges to the app? Have you tried any other layers? Are they being applied correctly (right folder/section)? Who is the creator of the specific layers? Some people seem to be a lot better at making sure they work correctly. I would use a popular layer from a well known dev to make sure I have the hang of how it works. Once you ensure it functions correctly and you have the process down pat, go ahead and pick your favorite based on looks.

Also, you are doing this with Oxygen, correct? If not, you have to make sure the rom has the correct settings baked in so that it functions. It does not come stock with all roms. Let me know if there is anything else I can try to help ya with man.
