[Leaked] SPH-D710 FK09

Ok few questions for ya before I delve into this :).

1: I read this can have a what's called EMMC superbrick/lockup bug and was wondering a: can this be un-bricked via odin flashing the stock fi22 rom, and b: how likely is this to happen?

2: You say your running it, i would love to try it, but I really am leary of bricking stuff, so I have to ask beforehand. Is your phone s2 epic 4g touch on boost? I keep finding some people post on the "boost" forums and don't have a "boost" phone LOL, so I have to ask for sure.

3: I know you've made a write up of a how-to on stuff, and I deeply appreciate a: your efforts and b: your write ups, they are both easy to understand and simplistic in nature that even I can understand them :).
I'm a "see spot run" or "stick figure" sort of person......no stupid by ANY means, just more simplistic in nature.
If so I'd greatly appreciate a write up.

4: What file did you use exactly?

Sorry if the questions seem ignorant or stupid, as I said I am both leary and simplistic so that's why I have to ask.

Only some phones have the chip that causes the EMMC problem. It is a combination of affected chip and firmware (thus the reason for flashing with a safe kernel and recovery). you can download "eMMC check" from the google play store if you are rooted to check to see if you have the affected chip

So I'm reading it's a hardware thing/issue, not a software thing/issue, well sorta, it's mainly the hardware chip reacting adversly with the software recovery.

I just ran the emmc check and it passed, so I'm takeing that as I'm not affected by this issue.

That is why I said it is a combination of chip and firmware. Some phones have a chip that reacts badly to how the memory is written to during a flash. If you have the aforementioned chip you have to flash using a safe kernel and recovery.That is why the practice of flashing in a gingerbread kernel like EL29, then flashing in the ROM you want.

Holy crap it works! and gps works too!!!!!!!!!

Only 2 issues that have been found so far on this rom:
1: Pics on contacts will cause the phone to lock as the phone app will freeze and may have to reboot the phone <----I never use pics on my contacts anyways, I always tell by the name :).
2: Mute bug, where the phone calls may mute and the other side will not hear you or you hear them, and I get that randomly anyways even on ics, but it doesn't happen often, and I call back, so I can deal with that

Overall I'm happy.

Just a quick question, any way to use cwm on this so as I can install other stuff?
 
Cool and all, but the mute bug will bother me to much. There is a fix, but if your on the phone longer than specified screen timeout IE: if I'm on the phone 25-30 mins in one setting, the phone max timeout setting is 10 mins, so after the screen goes off you have to wake it up. Yeah I know waking it up at 10 min intervals aint so bad, but that coupled with no recovery, I have ta go back to ics.

Good to see what I get to look forward to though, I'm excited now. It sets my mind at ease about the gps issue being present and it's not there, so that's a good thing.
 
i dont like all the sprint apps and how it says sprint on the notifications. is there any fix for this???

As far as I know, just like any other rooted rom, you can go into system/apps with any file browser that has root capability and remove the apps you don't want, that is as long as you are rooted, if you chose to use the un-rooted version, then you can't do anything about those.

As for the sprint boot up, you can't change that, YET. They are working on a custom recovery console and once that's done and working, you will then be able to change the boot animation to your preferred choice. Until then you can't do anything about the animation.

The Sprint on notification I'm not sure how to change that, but I do know cm mods have sprint there as well, and I've seen it in other mods as well. I just ignore that one.

Remember this IS a leaked build for "sprint" phones, so that's why all the sprint bloatware and names all over.

I am sure the boot up logo is just like the boost one and you can just remove the file to make it go away. As far as removing apps I recommend using Titanium Backup to freeze the app first to make sure that the app is not needed instead of just deleting it, and then use it to remove the app if the phone works fine without that app running.

That's a better idea cg, thanks.
I will note that some are trying to modify or theme this ROM and having a really bad time with it. It seems as if Samsung has tied stuff down a bit making it harder to modify, so keep that in mind as well.

What is the name of the boot animation file?
