Left vm for Metro PCS

After three years of ok, to barely acceptable vm service, I left for Metro. Three weeks in, I can tell you the service is so much better, it's not even funny. I'm getting an average of 25m down and 14 up. Vm has no decent phones and lame service. I'm very glad I left. Little annoyances, like picture messages not showing up are a thing of the past. If you're thinking about switching, you should. I think Sprint is gonna scuttle the vm brand soon anyway.

Which phone did you go with?

Gut feeling. You never see commercials anymore, no more iPhones, no other decent phones really. Everything seems skewed towards family share from Wal-Mart, which is a death knell. I think Sprint wants to expand their prepaid services by getting rid of virgin.

I've been with VM for 4 years exactly today (3/13). I will be with them for another month then switch to Cricket. VM for me was ok service. Speed is often a paltry 300k-500k at work with a Galaxy S3.

3 reasons I am moving : VM no longer offer super competitive price, phone choice, service. Cricket has $35 (tax included), so I would be paying less than VM which requires me to pay (NYC 8.875%) sales tax. While savings not substantial, it's still savings and Cricket uses ATT network. ATT network is much better than Sprint.

I agree with Hiwatt, VM seems to be "closing" down. Phone choices have been abysmal.

Either they are closing down or clearing out the inventory of older phones, I have noticed when they run out of something now they don't get more later, it just goes away. A bunch of new phones just came out so hopefully they are loading in with all the new goodies soon. But I definitely see your point. It normally takes a month or two for the new stuff to hit the prepaid carriers.

Also just noticed they have dropped the price on the S5 which might mean the S6 is coming soon. Gotta clear out the old stuff!

What makes you think they will get rid of VM?
Sprint is actively killing as non discreet as it can, all of our virgin branded displays are being rebranded, no collateral for virgin . its slowly being phased out and no one really noticed.

Does Sprint really NEED 2x re-sellers ?
Boost does just fine, and seems to be thriving.

VM is a shadow. No real competitive plans. They did today just up their data on a few plans.
But seems like too little too late

No more "retrain your Brain" TV spots :)
