Help Less bettery life of Wildfire S. Help to save bettery.

Hello guys,

I hv bought new HTC Wildfire S before 7 days. But I hv to charge it 2 times per day. even I turn off my wifi/gprs when not in use.
so, how to save bettery of it.? :(
Should I contact HTC cust care???

Did you charge properly before you started using it? Charge till full, leave on charge for 8 hours, then let it die completely?

Also, how long have you had it? The battery on every smart phone I've had has been rubbish for at least the first 10 days.

Had a similar problem with mine, make sure gps is turned off as well and try turning off all the "my location" settings in the location option in settings. although some apps stop working, just switch it back on when needed.

:)Thanx dude, i hvn't charged it for 8 hours till. & I bought it before 7 days.
Can I charge it for 8 hours by today ???

The first charge is the most important as you're setting a precedent for the battery (and writing a file called batterystats.bin which lets the phone know what full and empty is). You're supposed to charge fully for 8 hours, then let it die completely on the first charge.

You can try it now, see if it makes a difference, but I'm not so sure. As peoples79 suggested, you can try turning stuff off like location, autosync etc and you should get a little more juice out of it.

Thanx, now it runs for the whole day... but when i use gprs/wifi then it takes much power. so i hv to charge twice in the day... is it ok na?

WiFi isn't too bad (supposedly the WiFi radio doesn't need as much power as the GPRS one), but 3G is quite the battery hog.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks! This is good to know.

It's the same with all Android phones (whichever one you decide to get :p)

One option, which I will do eventually, is replacing the stock 1250 mAh battery with an aftermarket 1500 mAh or better one

if your gonna replace, replace the stock battery with a 3200 one . I did.

thought it would be too bulky, but its not. actually makes it a better phone as it is easier to hold now without pushing vol down button

The batt is 3 x stock one and lasts a proportionate amount longer. I use wifi, bluetooth in car and wildfire s acts as you want ...charge every 2nd day.

I still use power widgt to turn stuff off when not using it and have uninstalled the advanced app killer ....its a battery hog !! ( yes )

The provided phone back is not cheap plastic , rather matt & slightly rubbery and a tight fit all round ,,loks like a factory fit.

I am not the seller in the link ...just a happy customer and TBH if this 35oo batt did not work I was back to shop for a different model as the stock batt is such crap I cannot believe it got of the lab desk.

:)

here are two pics showing 3500mah batt giving :

  • almost 2 days between last charge and amber warning
  • over 18.5 hours of awake time

Nice! :)

Just a wee suggestion, you'd probably get a little longer if you uninstalled Advanced Task Killer. Just let Android managed tasks on its own, Task killers haven't really been needed since Android 2.1 and above.

my thoughts exactly, it was something I was planning on doing as well. thumbs up for giving me the specs what to buy...

also, my battery life was ridiculously bad at least the first 2 or 3 days of use, this is even with a very thorough 1st charge and full drain the first couple of uses.

now that I've got everything configured and working the way I want it (note: not many bandwidth or memory hogs) battery life is fine when not browsing constantly. about the same as my old phone which had Opera and I sent/received a lot of texts but wasn't a true smarphone (therefore didn't really have email sync and a few other things). and this is even with location stuff turned on 90% of the time, though I occassionally go into airplane mode while at work or in meetings to conserve a little extra juice.

I also try to keep GPS turned off except when I'm definitely using it. and never keep WiFi and Mobile Network turned on at the same time if I can help it.

note that a good signal will also help your battery. I often don't have a great one (1-2 bars) at home, but elsewhere it's fine for me.

Hi, I kknow this is a really dumb questioon but how do you install apps? want to install the task killer one but havnt a clue how!! i read something about a market went on to it and it wanted me to make a google account very confused please help! :)

I would contact HTC customer helpline as you are obviously doing something wrong but I'm not sure what.

Hi Roamer, you need a google account to install apps, there's no getting around that. Once you've created one, you should just be able to head to the market, search for the app you want, then install using the on screen buttons.

As for the task killers, it's been proved that in recent versions of Android, they do much more harm than good and can actually make battery life worse. You're best just to let Android do the work and shut down apps when it needs to. I can get you some links explaining why if you'd like.

Is this really true?

Can someone confirm? Also, is this the same for all Android phones? Eg. a smartphone from the Samsung Galaxy~ series running Gingerbread?
