less RAM available.causing phone to get slow?

Hi folks,
Been a week m hving galaxy note.

Iv found that at any moment im hving juat about 100mb of free RAM available.

Questions-
1. Is only 100mb RAM making the phone slow? Takes that 1 sec lag to even shift between home screens, shifting between tabs in internet pages n also opening contacts.

2. Im not hving any major apps. All i hv is My data manager and No LED running. Then what is taking so much RAM?

3. I hv read that hving the system battery save or custom battery save options slows down the phone. Is it true?

4. I keep clearing the RAM space frm task manager. Will that affect or cause any problem to the phone in long term?

M not hving any major or too many apps, so what else can i do to free the RAM space?

Pls let all ur knowledge and sugestions pour in. Thank you.

Is it correct that you are checking this through phone setting application then running? I read about this and notice that throught the task manager it is always about 140 but throuth the above it is over 225. There should not be any concern I think ics 4.0.4 free up ram for efficient running and keep your phone fast but 4.1 heard to make it faster i hope they have done better with battery. I get like a day and a half light wifi use no data service but would like to know what people getting with data 3g and 4g.

ok.... y is there tht lag whn shifting between webpages? or when opening contacts takes 2 secs... or shifting between homescreens!!!

does this lag happens in every note, or just mine

Which version firmware your using? I know 4.1 will make the note faster not sure it will better battery performance but i hope so i would like 3 to 5 days of light use on one charge.

Have you tried a factory reset?

Hi AjayNatu

You could try removing screen animations etc at Settings/Developer Options/Window Animation Scale and Settings/Developer Options/Transition Animation Scale. Please let us know if it improves matters.

1. no, hvnt tried factory reset..dont wana try it ...wud tht help? and will it clear off memory once n for all...... or il hvto keep doing a fatory reset every now n then ...

2. since last night new thing has started popping up. PHONE HANGS N THEN AFT 20 SECS STARTS WORKING AFTER A NOTIFICATION " TOUCH WIZ ENCOUNTERED PROBLEM AND STOPPED WORKING" ...neva seen this before n no thread here has the same problem discussed.

3. there r so many process in the background tht keep running. i hv disabled the most unnecessary ones. can u pls put up a list of all the background processes that i can close off without any problem?

iv fallen in love with the phone, however these small issues just steal away the icing on the cake... hope to hear from everyone to solve all this..

wht does windows and transition animation scale do? they r at preset value of 1x...
by turning them off wud anything happen to the interface?

I don't know any technicalities but if you are feeling cautious about these settings just do them one at a time. I may be naive here but if anything bad and/or irreversible were to happen I would say it was very irresponsible for Samsung to have included these options and there would be a clear case for a free replacement.

Setting both to ‘Off’ made things a little faster for me; I suggested it in case yours were set at excessively large values (just try each at say 2x).

I have disabled the ones I will never need eg social media apps

i tried the animation settings to OFF... hvnt helped been no change in the op speed (

apps tht i hv disabled are -
yahoo finance
voice talk
voice search
social update
social hub
readers hub, press reader
mini diary
flipbord
face unlock
google text-to-speech engine

i dont forsee using them anytime so disabled them...
any more apps that i can disable tht can free RAM?

abt factory reset, thx for the link... i guess il wait for couple of days...if there isnt any improvement then il do a factory reset.

till then keeping ears open for more suggestions
