Root Lets Get Root

Nah the root part is a whole different process, but if you have cwm it would be much easier to gain root..I think... like example Samsung released 2.3.6 for the admire, we had cwm but no root untilPG made a flashable zip which contained root.;)

I'm still bitching at Samsung and Metro to release an unlocked bootloader.

More people need to email and call them requesting the same thing. The more complaints they get, the more likely it is to happen.

Regardless of if they do it or not, we will find a way.
 
So shabby,is there anything else we can try?at this point im willing to give anything a shot,even thought about going to church and praying for it lol :-)
 
There are no exploits for the Samsung Galaxy Admire to gain root access.
THIS WORKS!
1. Metroguard --> phoneclaim.com --> Lost my phone --> $39 deductable --> Brand New Phone ( not refurbished ) by noon the very next day.

2. Posted New phone on Craigslist --> Sold $160.00 --> $50.00 mail in rebate w/ photocopy UPS
CHA CHANG!

3. Ordered much better phone ZTE Avid 4G from metropcs.com --> Received in 2 days. --> Rooted in 5 minutes.

If your paying for Insurance use it!

*Note: Buy metropcs phones online only.
You can send them back if you dont like the phone. You can not return a phone to a metropcs store after 7 days or 100 minutes of talk.
My original Galaxy Admire was bought at a store, took it back two days later but it had 107 minutes of talk time on it and they would not exchange it.
Satisfaction Guaranteed....this is how I got mine.

Hey guys and shabby i spoke to the XDA Senior developer named Adam Outler, and he said to root the Samsung Galaxy Admire 4g you have to :

"You would want to get a kernel, make it insecure, then load it into the device, root it, then flash a stock kernel to it again to make it secure again."

He says this will work, so Shabby and KoNane, this ones for you.
A little help from XDA developers.
Hopeyou guys can firgure out how to make this work. Good luck :)

i had a big long post written out of why i was irritated by this reply, unfortunately my computer decided to forget it was doing anything and crashed.

"We want to get a kernel" obviously thats the end goal for most samsung devices, but they dont just magically appear. you get kernel source so you can compile them... but you dont get any ramdisk/initramfs until you get it off teh stock kernel. which can only be dumped once you get root, without the ramdisk/initramfs it wont boot (see the dilemma here?)

the issue we faced is to the best of my knowledge we compiled a kernel from source using a leaked kernel initramfs. the issue is when we tried to flash it download mode gave an error and refused to boot. it has no problems flashing the stock kernel just fine and booting.

so that rules out kernels and recoveries (since they are packed into the same file). the only other attack vector i know of is system, demented has a rooted system however the permissions arent set properly so it refuses to actually do anything. i used a script to try and set things right but it refuses to run.. so i am out of ideas im sure someone more talented than i may be able to fix this all up but ive reached teh end of my rope...
 
Is there a way we can do something like cat /proc/emmc or cat /proc/mtd and run a dd to get the information needed? I've been searching around XDA for ideas and it seems this is a way to dump the stuff we need from an unrooted device, however my ADB skills are severely lacking still.
 
no one uses mtd partitions, or rather most of teh big name oems stopped at gingerbread. and in order to use teh dd command you need root
 
So is that it? We all give up and no one is going to keep trying to find a way to root?
There has got to be away even though this phone is new. if it can be done to the 3g, than eventually it can be done for the 4g.
We are not giving up on you Shabby and KoNane, you guys can do it, it just has to take time like the 3g admire. :)
 
It's a fairly new phone. We just have to wait and it will happen. Maybe by that time, we will all probably buy another cell that can be rooted faster.
It's Samsung with the locked bootloaders, and it all started with Verizon starting all this bullshit that makes it more difficult to root our phones. Now all of the cellphone companies are going to do it because of Verizon.
