ahh, ramune - THE absolutely delicious carbonated japanese soda. original flavor ramune tastes a bit like lemon-lime (think 7-UP or sprite) but is super HIGHLY carbonated. ramune soda also has the fine distinction of being the only soft drink that is marble activated.

what? marble activated? are you insane, long weekend style?

to open a ramune, one must use the little cap device to push the marble into the bottle - the marble which has been cleverly held in place solely by the carbonation of the drink itself. plunk! the marble falls into the fizzy goodness below and now the challenge is to drink the ramune without the marble falling back into the neck of the bottle, obstructing the river of lemon-lime refreshment.

ramune can be found at japanese grocery stores and restaurants, if you be so curious to try one. ramune also comes in a wide variety of flavors including: bubble gum, mango, watermelon, strawberry and strangely enough, wasabi and curry, although not together.
drink up!

As good as those taste, I am perfectly fine with an American classic.... sweetened with REAL sugar though...

Sadly though, you have to buy the "Mexican" version of it in order to taste the "American" classic in its true form....

Yup it is. I got a little crazy today and bought like 12 bottles of the stuff. I also saw some very lovely little "senoritas" at the "mexi-mart" where I bought em...

If you don't open the Japanese cola correctly, you'll spill a lot of it. You have to be ninja-like to open the bottles.
