Shop keepers are either slick fast talkers who have made it into business by tricking others or adventurers who have retired with money and can afford to help others with their time. Those who try to be shopkeepers and don't have money or some type of power are easily killed and the party is rewarded for acting out.

Karan has backstory I don't know so asking to speak with random people or trying to find out things makes it more difficult to GM...
