They did, but now they just sell stuff online. The only reservation I have with that HP is that it's an HP. The last HP I owned, thing would get too hot.

I'm actually considering an Acer as my next laptop. I need something more portable than my current laptop (thing weighs over 10 lbs) and figure the Iconia would be a nice setup.

Most computer companies make crap nowadays. The last Acer I had ran rather decently, and is actually still running strong (given to family after my laptop upgrade). If there is any computer maker out there that has cornered the market on quality or the perception of quality (Like Apple) then they charge an insane amount for their perceived quality. Not even Dell makes good computers anymore.

Ya well the company I work for is replacing all of the old Lenovo/IBM laptops with DELL laptops.

Currently I am one of the last on the list to get an upgrade....

I will be so glad to get rid of my old T61

People hate on dell, but they're decent

I agree...the ones that are ordered by the company I work for are ordering ones that aren't flashly, but work good. I think the difference is the model you buy or order.

Personally I have a DELL a bought about 4 years ago and it still works good

I was the IT admin for a small-ish business and they had Dells all over the place. The previous IT admin had run into a problem where about 20% of all the Dells started making noises. He isolated the issue to the CPU cooling fan. His solution was initially to replace the fans but Dell had none in stock. So his "Plan B" was to take the fans out of EVERY problematic computer. That place was a ticking time bomb with all those PCs running in less than ideal temperatures without their cooling fans.

Dells are "meh", but they mark up their products as if their name is synonymous with quality. It used to be, but I think they've forgotten what it takes to be #1, now their computers are sometimes a pile of #2.

Thus far my Toshiba laptop has been decent, but I don't think there's a computer manufacturer out there that is head and shoulders above the rest. The Acer I'm looking at is ok as well, but I love the double-screen. I figure with a wireless keyboard/mouse combo, I can utilize the dual-screen when I'm at home, and on the go I can use the touch-screen laptop.

So I got my quad-core laptop today. I ended up getting it at Wal-Mart. Kinda random they would have this computer there. It's not half bad. It's an HP g7-1329wm.

I spent $498 plus tax but got a $50 in store gift card. So I was able to get a game and a pair of headphones too. =]
