No that is always feasable when I am not at work...my manager asked if I would be interested in a job in Birmingham Alabama...it would be a step up but it could also be a strain on me personally...

Just think how impressed all the girls in Alabama would be with a guy showing up with a full set of teeth (that is assuming you have your full set).

What you do is find out how much the cost of living would be and see if the "raise" is worth the move. Cost of Living Comparison Show your boss the numbers if it would be more expensive to move to AL. Oh and use a few different estimates. I think Bizrate has a relocation calculator.

After much calling....found out the problem was old phone lines coming into the area.

That's what AOL told everyone.....

I know some people who work in that office...they have told me it costs more to live here (they have lived in both)...I don't think I would be able to get my license in short enough time...I have to get it not revoked here before I can get it in another state...

I say get a family member to take care of the kids for you for a few months, ask someone in Alabama (from work) if they mind you staying at their place for a little while, tell the boss that you'd like to take the offer for a few months but would like at least a few months to see if it'll work for you (pretend you're thinking of the kids). Then once you can get your license, go ahead and file for it, and make the move official or don't make the move and stay put. Either way, think of it as a mini vacation.

Quick, someone un-thank me 3 times so karspawn can get my milestone 1000th thanks........

I wouldn't get a chance to do a test it would be a perm thing...and I don't have a family member who could take the kids for a few months...was talking about my driver's license...was trying to wait til July to get it reinstated...

Tell your boss, unless it's something you've been avoiding telling him. Of course, this is only if you're even partially interested in moving. What other feedback do the people that have moved to Alabama have for you? What kind of relocation packages will your company offer you? I know when I worked at GM, when they had to move people, a $60,000 relocation allowance was given to employees (that was one of the higher allowances IIRC). Granted it involved everything from a $10,000 new car voucher, to helping pay off all the points you'd have to pay for moving and buying a new house, but it was still one sweet deal.

Just to comment on one of your previous posts...

From want I hear Alabama is one of the less expensive places to live.

Also, from what I have heard, it is actually easier to get a new license from a different state, then getting one reinstated

I know that Virginia has tough DMV laws...

My license is still on probation from speeding violations from 2 years ago.
