With all the hype about Android 4.0 and the threads that have been showing up I felt that I should make a thread to make you think again before making your own thread.

The LG Ally will NEVER see a fully working ICS port if it even sees on at all.
It is more likely for your dog to grow wings, fly to Mars, and cure world hunger than the LG Ally get a fully working ICS.
Vermin Supreme will win the Presidential election before the LG Ally gets a fully working ICS.

On another note:

I figured as much, being that a Gingerbread port is basically impossible. One question, though. What about Chrome for Android (assuming Google doesn't do it themselves)?

just wondering, is there anything that useful in ICS that we could use in the ally or would it be more of a cosmetic thing cause if its just cosmetics the red ics of stormdroid 2.0 should be good enough

So, a capadibility port would be needed like adobe flash did but probably wouldnt be successful.
The cyanogen port would of been possible but the files used were lost or locked up from our generations hands and the developers gave up on it seeing they couldnt go any further.
As for ics, "hands u my ally" have fun ^_^ the chances of me or someone getting ics to run on the ally are the chances of porting windows xp to the ally.

What we as devs have given u guys is as far as one can go. Respect it.

I have mad respect for you guys. You all made my Ally a truly fun and usable little device. I just hope, when I upgrade, that I get my hands on a phone with such awesome devs backing it and making it better.

i just flashed cm7 on to my non active ally, seems to be running fine so far. cant comment on any radio issues. wifi is working great though. i guess i was just wondering if we "could" ever see an ics port, just for bragging rights. from what ive read if you can run gingerbread you can run ics.

Highly Not going to Happen even if it could i think it wouldnt Run lol ... the Devs need source files for the ally and correct me if im wrong are very hard to find these days ...

Not hard to find, per se, but the source LG gives us is missing proprietary files needed to actually do anything...in other words, it's crap source.

Not hard to find, per se, but the source LG gives us is missing proprietary files needed to actually do anything...in other words, it's crap source.

thank you for explaining. so if someone were to say get there hands on a full source code including proprietary files it "could" (in theory at least). be done.

yeah i was looking for the same thing .. my ally is retired and it wouldnt hurt to have a WiFi ICS rom with a disabled Radio ... One Last Push for the Ally

It's not a matter of compiling.
The phone itself is does not have good enough specs to run ICS.

huh thats weird tho, The Optimus P500 got a couple ICS and MIUI Ports, why cant the Ally? .. could we try to compile and see what we get? imo if the Optimus One can get a port, why no u try ally?

The Ally isn't the Optimus P500. Just because it gets something, doesn't mean we can too.

I'm sorry if I sound mean but I'll try to use little words so you understand.

The Ally is not good enough to run ICS. The hardware is too out of date. I don't even think the Ally has a GPU.

As said in my OP. The Ally will never see ICS. Only ICS themes *cough StormDroid cough*

what if we took an ics build ported for the og droid. (kangs cm9 is only 79.2mb)
and ported that version to the ally. im just thinking if space is an issue. we just wouldnt be able to install very many apps. if any just a thought ill be quiet now

There is no way. There is no means to port, we don't have the files for it to work. OG Droid has full source to work with. Ally does not. The ally is a screwed phone when it comes to building from source/AOSP. No amount of porting/hacking can change that. It just simply will not happen.
