Root LG Android MTP - Fail

Anyone get this? I'm trying to root my H631 Tmobile Stylo 5.1.1

When i plug phone booted normally into laptop (Win 7) I am able to connect fine and laptop recognizes the phone fine.

however, if i boot phone in download (dev) mode.. it fails... I've tried a few laptops, cables, desktop.. they all end up with same error message.

I've even went so far as to factory reset the phone and that didnt help as well. I get an code 10 error when i check device manger. I tried almost everything on the net.

any help is appreciated. thanks

The phone doesn't have to connect as MTP in download mode that I'm aware of, did you try to check the com port with the comport.bat while in download mode to see if it connected?

yes, i am connected to com port, my problem is I can't see the phone to open cmd line in win explorer. Any suggestions?

just run the auto root or my manual method if you want to root honestly the com port is all that matters, and you did turn on USB Debugging right?

Hokage, first of all thank you, you have have great in responding and helping.

where i get stuck is on step 6, I am able to run ports.bat and able to identify which com port is LGVZANDNETDIAG1. Then when i go check to see where the LG root is.. i can't find it as the phone doesn't appeared to be mapped to my laptop when checking in windows explorer. As such, i can't shift and right click to open command window

Step 6 in the LG_Root folder hold shift and right click and choose open command windows here

MTP has nothing to do with step 6 are you sure your shift key isn't broken? cause your supposed to hold shift while right clicking with your mouse. and the option should be in the right click menu
 
actually not sure, the issue is i couldn't see the root folder in the phone. I tried the one click root in the other folder and the program found it itself and rooted the phone. As 6th Hokage stated, I didnt need the mTP to root the phone but without it win explorer wont display the mapping to allow you to get to the root folder.

the root folder is the one that you download from my link and unzip to your desktop you silly goose....
