LG Eclypse won't send MMS

Nyx001

Lurker
Pictures, music files, etc. I have an unlimited text messaging plan with Virgin with includes MMS. I will leave it trying to send for hours (and in areas I have perfect 3G reception) and nothing! Just keeps trying and trying until I give up and delete it. I also can't download anything a friend sends me.

Howdy!
I am having a similar issue with NYX001, but it seems it is not just the android eclypse phone. I also have an account with Virgin also, but it seems there might be a problem some where else. Maybe the server or something else???
Network??
I am a bit of a Newbie when it comes to cell phones and thought someone might have an answer basically the same question as NYX001 .
I had an old Evado phone, but because the evado network towers are being replaced with the HSPA network and the evado is becoming obsolete in this area i bought an Android Eclypse.
The old evado would send an text message to a computer address no problem, with no data plan and no WI-FI either and no connection to the internet, just cell service.
The Android will text to a mobile or land line no problem, but won't send to a computer address like the old evado would.
I have family members who have new I-phones and they send to my computer address with no problems.
I talked to the people at the store about it, and the fellow pulled out his cell phone ( which looked like an iphone from where i was standing) and tried to send a message to an e-mail address. He had data, and WI-FI if he had wanted to access it, but his phone would not send to a PC address.
Other people in the store said the same thing, their cell phone would not send to an e-mail address
In our area we don't have alot of cell phone service and WI-FI in alot of areas, but plenty of computers, so I would like to be able to send a text with the Android as simply as I did with the old Evado to e-mail addresses.
I have heard there is an app out there that one can down load where one can send a text to an e-mail address without data or Wi-fi, using just cell coverage.
Does anyone know anything that can help, as the people in the store were adamant that one had to have data and go on the internet to send an e-mail to a computer address.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
thanks--

A follow up with the last post concerning the Eclypse that wouldn't send a text to a computer e-mail address without a data plan.
I spoke with my virgin provider, and she put me in touch with the LG people.
I spoke to the fellow at LG and he said that the Eclypse phone does not support text messaging without connecting to the internet, and without an e-mail account. I asked him if there was an app that would fix the problem so one could e-mail having only a cell provider, and he said that yes one would have to down load an app to fix the problem.
The next question is what app is out there to deal with the issue and allow one to sms and mms having only a cell connection??
Any one have any thoughts???
Thanks-
Nite Hawk

How I got it to work:

I have the Eclypse and to send photos I have to go into settings, wireless & networks, mobile networks and select 'data enabled'. I make sure it doesn't charge me anything extra by not having any apps that might use internet open while enabling data. Then I wait for whatever it is that I am sending to send (or to receive whatever MMS a friend is trying to send me to download) and just uncheck 'data enabled'.
It sometimes takes a while but it does work eventually. Sorry if you've already tried this and it doesn't work.

On t-mobile this is how I sent and received MMS without a data plan.
