You can download SMS Backup and Restore apps on Play tht give you the option to backup via email. I'm not sure if they woul be in a readable format though, or if they just back up to a file (I hav a feeling it would be the latter).
Do you need them to be readable, or do you just need to keep a copy somewhere?

Just a thought here, if your text is on the stock messaging app. And you download a sms app such as GoSMS, would your text show up on GoSMS after the fact you downloaded it?
The reason I mention GoSMS, is it has a backup option also.
Never thought about it, as I dont backup text messages...worth a try also if you try SMS Backup and Restore..
