I did some more digging and found 2 leads.. One had some more info on what that youtube post was doing.

I assume I'd have to use some type of wire to bridge that big of a distance to short. Worth a try?

No, the LG Exceed 2 was 3G only.. Stayed KK

I am experiencing the same scenario as @Stettin posted directly above me. I cannot get into download mode. The pc sees the phone and it appears to show about 10 different USB devices added when connecting but only one of the USB devices has files with any content. Flash Tool/LG Support Tool cannot connect. Am able to enter with power button/vol- and the choices are continue boot, factory data reset, wipe cache, safe mode boot. Selecting any of those does nothing.
Any other button combo brings message "secure boot error / boot certification error". Eventually the phone seems to shut down with only the backlight visible on the screen.
The link above about shorting out some contacts is inconclusive as to whether this is relevant and "Remeber unplug battery connect only cable and short testpoint" isn't the clearest directions. In the end, I may poke around before pitching the phone.
As with @Stettin, the phone was working fine until put away for a few months. Battery drained completely and the issue then appeared.
I have another one of the LG Exceed 2 LG-VS450PP phones that I have been using to charge the battery since the bad unit doesn't charge the phone.
Hate o throw this in the land fill and am curious how things work (or don't).
