Hi all

I made a TWRP 2.8.6 for LG Exceed 2, I am pretty sure it will work on the Realm as well.

Must be rooted, must have unknown sources enabled
Copy apk to your phone and install it
Open LG W5c TWRP app
Click Install Recovery (this only needs to be done once)
Click Reboot Recovery to reboot to TWRP

To Boot to TWRP from an off state

(THIS ONLY WORKS ON THE EXCEED 2, IF YOU DO THIS WITH THE REALM IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY FACTORY RESET THE PHONE AND YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DATA, SO ONLY DO THIS ON THE REALM IN EMERGENCIES)

Pull Battery out
Put Battery back in
Hold Volume Down and Power until a white screen comes up
You should get 4 options
Use Volume Down to select Wipe Cache
Press Power Button
It should then go into TWRP

Thanks @hroark13 !! Haven't seen ya in a good minute, how ya been?!

not too bad, thanks for asking, how are you

I know that there was already a recovery for this phone, but there was an fstab issue, screen time out issue, and MTP mounting did not work, so I made this one.

This also has an easy way to install with the apk, and gives you a way to reboot to recovery from the apk

I tested it on Exceed 2, do not have a Realm to test it on

anyway, hope it works well for everyone

Sweet! Gonna drop the Stock ROMs for this probably tomorrow, added init.d & made boot insecure.. Is this recovery designed for metadata or set perms?

should work with either

I installed your LgRealm_Deodexed_DeBloated_metadata3.zip on my Exceed 2, and your zip uses meta

your rom did not boot on the Exceed 2

Ty- mainly need to check flash & full boot/issues. It'll also help troubleshoot a significant project's flaws for perfection

Thank you! Works great! Can not believe how easy this phone is to root and how easy this TWRP install was!

Hope someone makes a nice ROM with the latest version on android soon... 5.1.1 I think it the latest at this time?

I had the system.img on one of my Google drives, but removed it after bsrichter was done with it. Only have the free 5GB, so I was being a bit conservative. Just reorganized things a bit and sent the /system.img back up and consolidated the Realm files. Boot & recovery are stock, but the system has SU & BB installed if I remember correctly. Let me know if you can't get to it here:

Exceed 2 files can be had here if you need them:

I'll need to sort through some flash drives to find the TWRP backup if that's what you really need. Lemme know and I'll start digging...

I'm hoping to find a means to create a .kdz from some of this to revive my soft-bricked Realm via DL mode as there is no such stock file that I can find. Unsure if it's even possible, but I've seen a few write-ups of how to create one.

Works like a dream on the Exceed 2. Thank you!

If I can unbrick my Realm, I'll test it there ;)

EDIT: Does removing/uninstalling the apk affect the actual recovery?

no

but it does give you a nice option to reboot to recovery, so you may want to keep it

Can only get into DL mode or watch the LG boot logo sit all day. I didn't have your most recent recovery installed, so the battery pull procedure won't work. My issue is likely caused by me accidentally wiping /system during a TWRP restore. Can't access the partitions to dd /system back without adb (which of course needs the phone running). Only option that I can come up with is flash from DL mode and AFAIK needs the proper (unavailable) KDZ.

Heh, I totally blew right past that option other than the first time I used it during the recovery installation.

I have to say that this is the easiest recovery installation I've ever encountered. A total noob can do it (if talented enough to root in the first place).

Again, nice work! Thanks
