LG G STYLO Update ?

shuu36

Newbie
Does anyone have a rooted lg g stylo 6.0 and received an Update.zip? I have and have extracted it! I want to know what it is?

A new phone modem and a framework mod.
If you look at the update script in the zip you should see everything it does.
Waiting and watching for information here on android forums is best before jumping into changes you won't want.
Cheers

Why the necessity? For the modem and frame work change, of course. Is it flashable through twrp? Or is the another way besides unrooting?

No it is not flashable through twrp. As for as necessary , thats why you should wait and see.

Well rooting and unrooting is very easy! So, why wait and see? Just want to know if anyone wants to see the files. I already have them extracted which can make them flashable through Custom recovery! What should we do?

If you unroot, you just accept the OTA. You can't flash any zips if your phone is not rooted

Update zips. Lol

I received update too not flashed yet. Still diging into it.
A lot patches for many apps. I guess they are trying to either blocked update to Android N or opening door to do an upgrade

I agree with krlypumaa, they are preparing for an update. Maybe to 6.0.1 perhaps. Months ago there was an article and conversation about updating to 6.0.1. however, it could also be an update to use new features such as android pay. Looking at the update it is pretty aggressive.

Android pay already works on (unrooted stock) 6.0 Marshmallow on the OG Stylo

Correction! The update does update all apks. However, updating to the h631v20c, which is the new update you loose the avility to root! I've tried it and tried other ways to reroot. It will lock root capabilities and programs to help root will not work! It ends with the lmao enter leave code. So do not update the version. Stay on v20b and use xposed to gain more functionality. Unless another developer wants to try and fix the new update! Kinda sucks! But 20b works just the same. Good luck!

You can root via the adb method. Worked for me.

So you unrooted and took this update and we're able to root again? I don't really care about taking it but I don't want to see the notification anymore...unless someone can tell me how to hide it...

I reverted back to stock by using the 20b flashable zips. Then I took the update I had but it apparently was not the 20c one. It just updated the security patch level to February. I had to check for an update again until I finally updated to 20c. But yea I was able to root after.

If you did gain root on this latest (small) OTA. Congratulations.

Please post screenshots that show this and also the exact steps to help everyone else.

Well thanks for all the responses! It was a great conversation! And to add just another insight to the post.......you really don't need the update anyways! Lol! All have a good day and have fun experiencing Android!

And of course! I rooted v20b again installed xposed and that is where im gonna stay. Android pay does work! Also, hide your root if you do have problems with android pay!

So, what did you use to "hide" root to get Android Pay working?
