Help LG G3, Unresponsive: boots up, but then black screen

Hi guys. I just woke up this morning to my phone being completely unresponsive. I tried letting it sit on the charger for a bit, in case it was a battery issue - but even when my battery is drained, the phone does typically notify me that is "dead" and can't be turned on. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in, and it does boot up. There's the usual "Android is starting..." notice before the screen goes back to being blank and unresponsive. This leads me to believe it might be an app or program running on the phone that's causing the issue. The problem I'm having is that I can't do a hard reset (holding down the volume up and power keys). The phone just will not respond. I've tried doing on a while ago as well and it never did work. At that time, I had to do it through the settings menu. Of course that isn't an option right now. The phone also won't respond to trying to start in safe mode either (pressing both the up and down volume keys). I'm at my wits end. Does anyone have an idea what can be causing it or a fix?

This happened to me this morning too... did you install the latest update? My phone had it ready to install but I never got the chance, it shut off just like yours and now won't turn back on...

I've tried everything you've tried.

My battery is as old as the phone, a year and 10 months. I did see on another forum that a user, with what seems like the exact same issue, tried a new battery but had the same problem. Shouldn't it work while plugged in? Also, my battery was pretty much full at the time. Thanks for the welcome! :)

From what I understand, if the battery is on its last leg, plugging it in may not work, or work for a very short period of time.
Also from what I understand, the phone won't work without a battery AND plugged in, follow? In other words the phone operates off of the battery, not the charger.
Again, I could be off base a bit, I'm no expert lol, just an Android fanatic :p

Anyway, as far as your issue with a full battery, perhaps the power button is getting stuck? Or sticky, making the phone confused as to what to do---power on or off, ya know?

I'm just throwing ideas on the wall and seeing what sticks :D

Thanks for the help Mike! I called Best Buy Mobile (not from my LG of course) and they think the battery is the issue too, I'm going to stop by later and try a new one... fingers crossed!

So I tried Best Buy and Best Buy mobile, they don't have or sell batteries... Batteries plus and a chain called UBreakIFix were both out of stock... :(
Just bought one off Amazon instead (due Monday), will let you know if it fixes the problem. Wish me luck!
