LG G4 Creating groups for text messaging only

This has been bugging me for a while now. I have set up groups in contacts so I can send out a generic text. The number of contacts in any group is limited to 20 and i can live with that.
However when I create a text and then choose a group to send it to it I also get email addresses to choose from as well. As a result I can't simply "select all" and have to select each individuals phone number manually which rather defeats the object of setting up a group!
Never had this problem with my galaxy.
Am I missing something in contacts settings?

I don't think you're missing anything. The only available workaround may be to create duplicate "phone only" contacts and only include *those* in your texting groups. There's unfortunately no option to make a contact "Hidden", so you'd have to deal with the presence of these duplicate contacts when making calls, emailing, etc. Maybe you can sort them all to the bottom by using a standard prefix when naming them, something like "zzPO John Smith", "zzPO Mary Jones", etc.
