LG is Finally Pushing a Pie Update in the US: Verizon’s V40 ThinQ

Thanks for the information. I can't believe, for once, Verizon is pushing an update before others. Hopefully its true.
UPDATE: its true, I just checked. Will reconnect after its through. Thanks again!

It's already different than others. This one downloads when you're not using your phone. My previous downloads shut down my phones and I couldn't use them until the updates were done.

Reports were LG V40 would get Pie by end of 2nd quarter.

That's earlier than expected. But, disappointingly way way behind the other flagship phones, even older than the v40, that got Pie.

Was that a Nova theme or an LG theme? I use a Nova with the dark LG theme and icons from an old Go Launcher theme and everything stuck. Sorry for your loss.

It was one of the the black themes from the play store...

Did find a workaround in settings. High contrast screen, under accessability.

It works kinda...

Noticed a new app,..Game Launcher.
My gaming is limited to solitaire, chess/checkers, so I disabled it.

Lock screen was changed. Another unnecessary one.

Hopefully the developer of the theme updates for Pie. This is a normal occurrence with android system upgrades but you may want to contact the developer to see if they will update.

On T-mobile here...I hope when they finally push the Pie update out it isn't a bad case of FUBAR like their Oreo release for the V20. Does anyone know the benefit of this other than the gestures feature?

I just found a new icon in the button bar. It appears when the button bar is showing and you rotate the phone. It is an autorotate button.

Here's a list of the changes in Android Pie from Verizon. I haven't found most of them to be anything fantastic for me. I have found a few small changes that I like. I copy & paste sentences a lot. Now, when highlighting the words to copy, there is a small magnified window that appears. Hopefully, battery life will be noticeably better.

Actually, I like the color changes in the Notification area. The bolder color when something is "on" is easier for my old eyes to see. Also, I'm sure if this is new, but I didn't notice this until after the update. When making "adjustments" to photos, if you long press the photo, it returns to its original settings. You can repeat that as often as you want before saving the changes. Pretty cool! I have found a few warnings with older apps. They still work, but I got pop-up warnings that they were old and should be updated or replaced. Thankfully, they're working for now. Actually, it fixed a problem I was having with an app, so I guess its even. bitmoji-20190526115627.png

Still trying to find a dark theme that will work on the"updated" V40. Went as far as to check out the LG SmartWorld app. No dice. I can download fonts, apps, wallpaper etc, but can't download themes, even though LG says that you can only see compatible ones.

Didn't you say you use Nova? Have you tried looking for "Nova dark themes"? There are a few simple ones in Google Play.

Yep Nova Prime for a long time now.
Problem with those is, they have dark wallpaper and/or dark icons. I make up my own wallpapers and icons. (I do like some color in my icons). I've been using the black theme from Nguyen Ngoc Giap. It themed the system, not just the launcher. Been in contact with Mark Bencze, another developer, that puts out LG themes, and he can't update his until his device gets it's update.

I make my own wallpapers but not icons. I made my icons in the days of Palm, but I haven't figured out how to do icons in Android. Is there an app?
