lg l70 digitizer not responding

When using tap to wake the phone I have to do it several times till I give up and just use the power button to wake the phone. Once I get it open I can use the touch screen like nothing is wrong. So, I guess what Im asking is why is it not responding when I tap to wake it? Any Idea why this is?

What security feature do you have setup? Knock code, Pin, etc?

No security code. I think I may have triggered it and woke it up by going in and un-ticking the knockon Screen on/off, restarted phone, went and ticked the Screen on/off so it has a check mark again and now VOILA, seems to be doing fine. Was gonna try it out for a while and then post but sense you asked, there ya have it.
