A friend of mine took advantage of the promotion MetroPCS was having where this phone was free, and I convinced him that unlocking it and reselling it to buy a new Moto E would be the way to go with Roms available for the E. After researching it for over an hour and seeing posts of others who have tried, there is no way to bring up the menu to enter a sim unlock code. Metro, and the TMO version can only be unlocked using the preinstalled Unlock App after you have hit the requirements for eligibility.
Sad that we have lost the ability to unlock for a small fee and upgrade at will.
