Root LG Optimus Elite Root (VM696 Virgin Mobile)

But honestly this is just in case someone goes...HUH? from the lack of clarity. I'm still bludgeoning out reasons for why someone can't get a good memory pull.

Whenever I'm flashing it, the progress gets to 11%, the phone restarts, and that's as far as it goes. After 10-15 minutes it pops up with a port error, but I've made sure that the port is COM10 on both DIAG mode and Download mode. Any ideas?

Here's what the pop up box says-

Process :Upgrade_Masterbin
SubProc :Masterbin Download
Cause CPortHandler::Close, fail to close the port

You're probably running the wrong .exe.

Go into the LGNPST folder and run LGNPST.exe as Administrator.

thanks for the fast reply figured that out ;) but now for the next challange do i need to rename the tot file to a bin file, as LGNPST cant seem to see it.

Use this guide to make sure lgnpst is setup correctly...

Installing LGNPST

1. Extract LG-LGNPST12.rar

2. Install LGNPST_General_v1.2_Lab_Version

3. Reboot

4. Install LGNPST_Components_Ver_5_0_12_0 - If it fails the first time run it again

5. Install LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_5_0_10_0

6. Copy LGNPST.exe and the model folder to C:\LG ELECTRONICS\LGNPST

7. Copy VM696.DLL and the .tot file from the root zip to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model

8. Open command prompt as administrator and run the following command

regsvr32.exe "c:\lg electronics\lgnpst\model\vm696.dll"

9. Run LGNPST.exe from the C:\lg electronics\lgnpst.... Do not run the lgnpst_general shortcut placed in your start menu

Did all that, still cant seem to get it to see the .tot file though, maybe im missing something. by the way you guys are awesome ive never seen such fast replys on any of the other android forums

Awesome post, but I still have a problem with LGNPST. I open the program and none of the buttons on the UI work. I can't click anything except for the drop down menus at the top. It's quite frustrating, but it's where I am stuck. I have reinstalled the stupid program a lot and just did it step by step on your guide. I have zero experience with this program, so I do need some help. Would anyone be willing to Skype me or something for maybe an hour to walk me through this?

Nevermind, I figured it all out, obtained root successfully in 1 flash!

Ok Ive read and re-read the guide, and the only part im hanging on is "Flash the .bin" i do not seem to have a .bin and the thing dose not see the .tot as a bin so ive got to be missing something. Ive moved the model folder and all its contents to the tools root folder, ive registered the .dll. I can access the phone just fine via the tool read the data etc.

really close, I've followed everything to a T installed perfectly, ran the scripts reboot. no root access, did I miss something?

if you have trouble i remade the guide for beginners like myself to understand how to set up everything before root and fixed the typo at the end of the root, the second command to push says abd not adb so if you copied and pasted it, it wont work unless you fix that
