LG Optimus Elite won't turn on

My LG Optimus phone wouldn't turn on this morning after it seemed to be working just fine last night. When at first it wouldn't turn on via the power button I tried to plug it in and the symbol didn't show up on screen like it usually does. I've had it for about 2-3 years now and had two questions. 1) how long does the LG Optimus usually last? 2) What does this problem sound like to anyone?

1) I have 12 year old cellphones that still work, (They can't be used any more because they have no GPS and they're analog, but they still work and the batteries are still good.)

2) The battery could be pretty dead. (Even turned off, there's some little bit of battery drain.) Plug in the charger. Give it at least 24 hours before trying to turn it on. If it comes on then, even if it lasts for only a moment or two before shutting off, you have a dead battery. You can probably get a replacement battery (aftermarket, not OEM) for about $10, so it would probably pay.

Then again, the charger could be shot, or the outlet it's plugged into could be dead. Either one is a cheap and easy fix.

Worst case is that the phone is shot. (Unlikely but possible,) In that case it probably doesn't pay to fix it.
