MetroPCS was one of the many (and I mean many) carriers that offered a variant of LG Optimus One, which it dubbed the LG Optimus M, and now it looks like Metro is getting ready to offer up a successor to its aging Optimus handset. The device you see above is known as the LG Optimus M+, claims Pocketnow, and it reportedly features a few notable upgrades from its predecessor. The Optimus M+ is said to feature a 3.5-inch HVGA display and 5-megapixel camera, up from the Optimus M's 3.2-inch screen and 3.2-megapixel shooter, as well as an 800MHz processor that's bumped up from the 600MHz CPU of the Optimus M. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is also rumored to be included with the Optimus M+, which is believed to feature the model number MS695. What about pricing and availability, you ask? That information is still up in the air, but Pocketnow does say that the Optimus M+ should be making its way to MetroPCS's shelves soon. The Optimus M+ may not appease those Metro folk that are waiting for a shiny new high-end handset to hit the carrier's shelves, but having more options is always nice, and it's good to see Metro continue to flesh out its Android lineup. We'll be sure to let you know when MetroPCS makes the Optimus M+ official. Until then, feel free to keep ogling the two images up above.

What do you guys think?

I understand metro needs variety but lets count the current and coming < 800 MHz club
•samsung admire
•zte whatever
•huwaei m85
•htc wildfire
•htc one v
•optumus m+

Its not variety when at least 3 of these phones have the same screen size and 1-2 megapixels is the only noticeable differentiation, it seems almost as if metro is taking a step backward with this oversaturation of cheap androids

Edit: one v has a 1ghz snappy

I think Metro is gearing their Android sales towards the lesser-experienced market that really doesn't understand (or care really) what the difference between 6/800 MHz and 1 GHz is. They can push these less-expensive phones out in more volume than the high-end Esteems or Connects that they really have to sell someone on before they lay down the $300+.

Looks like the Esteem will stay the luxury phone for a bit longer. the design looks "ehh", but 800mhz proccesor is alright for a prepaid phone.
And yea they should really try to release more 1ghz phones.

they're making phones for people who just want...phones.

make calls mostly and occasionally check email and look at a few webpages. you dont need the best specs to do that.

It could enjoy a renaissance...it's improved enough (flash should work on that processor), cheap enough, light n small.
And if ics had been ported...maybe internal storage upped...fuhgedaboutit...
