Help lg optimus v not recognized

i have a virgin mobile lg optimus v and was gonna get it rooted as i was getting to the point of plugging usb in computer,it wasnt recognized...i downloaded the usb drives from lg it self. still my computer will not recognize my phone the drives and everything are there,ive tried different usb ports and a different usb line and still nothing can someone please help me.

Look around in some of the root tutorials in the All Things Root sub-forum. IIRC the drivers from LG are not the correct ones to use.

HAHA you need a pc for what?? everything can be done from the phone itself...

I think my guildies would be pretty irritated if I tried to heal a raid in Wow from my phone.

i was referring to modding the phone.
gingerbreak > su > busybox > root explorer
although i read make runs on some androids i guess
thats evo's and up?
I can't even ./configure make LOL
or I prolly could build my android on my android and flash
it from my android
