lg phoenix p505 small internal memory how to increase

hello!

im trying to increase internal memory or stop apps from using any or even a small amount of ram since lg phoenix only has a small amount...i've done the send to sdcard thingy...but some memory always gets used anyway...is there a way to stop that ...i've upgraded to gingerbread recently now i cannot get gingerbreak or clockworkmod to work ..should have rooted before upgrading to gingerbread...any advice how to work around it?

I've been fighting with this critter for about 2 years -- ever since the fast-talking AT&T dude convinced me to give up my Palm Centro for this "free" phone. The basic issue is that there is only 200MB of internal memory which you can see in Settings - Applications - Manage Applications and at the bottom of that screen is a line that says Internal storage. Mine is currently showing 158 MB used and 42 MB free. It used to be much worse -- often less than 10 MB free and continual problems. I looked at each individual program and determined that the AT&T crapware doesn't seem to use SD memory even when it's available. Worse, if I have upgraded the app the total memory used was even greater -- the worst offender was Facebook which was hogging about 25 MB until I uninstalled the updates and it went down to 4.5 MB and almost half of that is data that can be cleared if I want to log in the next time I use it. What I have been doing is clearing caches often. It forces some things to be re-downloaded which uses up data plan minutes but I've never gone over half of my allotted usage even when I try not to use WiFi. I'm also looking really, really carefully into the specs for phones. I'd like to get a Nexus 4 because it won't have crapware and it has 8 GB of storage which is a LOT more than the phone + SD card put together use now. But unless Google gets its supply chain upgraded I may have to go with another AT&T beast but if I do, it's going to be looked at carefully -- now that I understand more about memory on Android devices -- before I sign on.
