Help LG realm downloading slow

My LG realm has been downloading super slow fir the past month. It never was fast(200 kBps) but note it's only a tenth(20 kBps) of that speed. Can anyone offer some advice? My phone has been rooted with towelroot, and I have superSU, but haven't modified anything other than disabling a few pre-installed apps. Any advice works be associatedassociated.

You're either being throttled or there's tower issues in your area and need to be reported. Try booting into recovery and clearing both Caches. Cache & Dalvik cache. If that don't fix ur problem, then call Boost about the tower.

Ok. I'm fairly inexperienced with phones, but I catch on pretty quick. I have a question...When I go to recovery mode there is only one option that has anything to do with cache. "Wipe cache partition." Is this what I should choose?
 
Yes. If that doesn't help, you could factory reset but I'd try just clearing cache first
 
Okay. I took your advice and word the cache earlier today. Tried downloading a few songs and at times it seemed a bit faster. Mostly it still hovered around 17-20 kBps. But at times there would be short bursts where the speed would jump to 30-40 kBps. I even saw it get to 56 kBps a few times. Gonna try again around 2 a.m. when there isn't as much network traffic. From what I've seen the magic number it stays at mostly is 17.39 kBps. I really appreciate your advice. It did make an improvement. Oh, and I just reset the phone about 3 days ago with no difference in performance.
 
I was just looking through the system settings and saw the mobile network type is set at 1xRTT. Not knowing what this was, I googled it. For some reason I think it used to be evdo rev-a. Is there a was to change mobile network type?

Settings - About Phone - Networks
 
I got it fixed now. Had to enter ##72786# to activate phone again. It switched back to evdo rev-a. It did jump back to 1xRTT once and had to do everything ask over again. Download speeds back in 200's kBps. Thanks for your helphelp.
