Help LG shine 2.3 root?

I wanna know, has anyone successfully rooted their phone on 2.3? I want to try gingerbreak but I want to know if it will work on the shine plus since it's been failing at life with everything else. Are there any other rooting apps that will work?

Check out the All things root forum, there's a thread with a procedure used on the Optimus that works fine with the Shine Plus.

Thank you so much! It worked perfectly, any tips on stuff I can do with my phone now that it's rooted? Are there any apps that can now work since the update screwed up things?

Well my three favorite apps for root is Titanium Backup (Backs up your apps + data for easy restoring and copies it on SD Card), very flexible application... Otherwise there's Root Explorer which permits you to go through your files easily with a nice little interface and modify system files (BE CAREFUL THOUGH!) and Ad free is another nice one. Blocks almost all known ad servers, so you don't get those pesky ads in applications. ;)

There are a bunch of root apps... Just depends on what you want to do with your phone!

The advantage of root is to gain write access to system folders like /system and the such. Many apps use this to do modifications to the system files.

Also, root will permit you to delve in the All things root forum if you want to try out custom ROMs. Also lets you apply fixes like the Bluetooth pairing not working after upgrading (If you didn't do a factory reset)

Do you know where to get "Ad Free" root? I found a few sources but it gave a warning of "out of date"

App on the market is called Adfree Android by Bigtincan.com

Got it thanks karendar!

I found that function in Rom Tools too. You ever use that? I am thinking about backing up Thinkfree office and uninstalling it. It's such a pig and I never use it!

Never used ROM tools, but I've heard of it!

As for Thinkfree, I deleted it outright from my ROM... It's a memory hog.

By the way, I'll post a theme I created in the all things root forum, but it needs work. You can try it out if you're daring enough. ;) hehe
