Help LG Shine Plus should be LG Shine Minus

I should have talked my wife out of buying this phone. It is a piece of garbage. It works just fine as a phone but this phone is by no means a "Smartphone". I would call it a Special Ed phone.

It's not a bad little phone for the price, when it is not in for repair. It is now back from it's third repair(this time exchanged) and time will tell how it does. :\

I've had mine since September, so 8 months now with no issues at all. I got my girlfriend the Desire for her birthday, and we just switched for the week because she always liked having a keyboard, going to see if she likes it enough to keep it.

Not sure exactly what you mean by not being a smartphone, what is it that it can't do that your other phone can? I like the look of the desire better, and the bigger screen and slightly less lag, but I can't say that it's $150 worth better which is the price difference. I had to pay almost full price for the Shine plus but only the 3yr price for the Desire, so it was a no brainer.

I feel like I have to be much more delicate with the Desire, cause it feels fragile compared to the Shine. I have more confidence in the Shine holding up to my girlfriends usage.

It has been freezing up, turning itself off during calls, "sd card removed unexpectedly" error followed by shutdown, wrong apps opening up (i.e. touch contacts icon and Google Maps open up). Name and it has happened. One time it was sitting in my coat pocket and in 8 hours it used up 220 MB of data and the battery had completely discharged. I have no idea what it was up to. Telus credited me for that one. After the third repair I had a chat with Telus and they gave me a good deal on a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate. I use it mainly now. They repaired the LG again (actually an exchange). It now seems to be working OK. However it looks pretty sick compared to the Galaxy Fascinate.
It is possible the planned update for the Shine may bring some life to it. It was a great phone until it started screwing up.

I am big fan of the Shine Plus. Love the features for the price and not having to pay for a data plan.

However, I have experienced some hardware issues. My first phone's keyboard made some crackly sound when you pushed certain keys and the directions pad; I exchanged it within 14 days at Best Buy. The second one's bluetooth did not work; I had to do an exchange by UPS. The replacement took a long time (5 weeks) to be delivered. Unfortunately, the third phone had a large sloppy gap between the screen and keyboard. They sent me a fourth one by UPS (only took about 3 days). This one seems to work very well.

Recently, I noticed that the sd card seems to randomly unmount itself and then remount and I would get a message "Preparing SD card" followed by an AVG anti-virus scan checking for errors (the same message if I do a full power off/power on). It only takes a few seconds and does not interfere with my usage. I think it started after I upgraded to a 8 GB SD card, so it may be an sd card issue. I have backed up my card and then re-formatted it in the hopes that this goes away. Anybody else experiencing the same issue?

I had no problem with the stock SD card but the 16gb card had unmounted occasionally. My keyboard used to make that noise but stopped after some break in. No issues after seven months.

I reformated the SD card and after 2 days, I have not experienced any more issues. I hope this is a permanent cure.

One other issue that I have is that I have been unable to update or install Angry Birds. I get an insufficient memory error even though I appear to have lots of phone memory. I ran into this memory problem updating Google Maps, but was able to update after deleting a few apps. But even though I have deleted a lot of apps, it will not let me update Angry Birds. Previously, I backed up an earlier version and installed it. But after deleting it from the phone, it would not let me re-install the backup version anymore. But this may be a software issue with Angry Birds or a Market issue. I see alot of posts about this, but not solution.
