Root LG Venice (Texting and Recovery Issues)

So I have this LG Venice running JB 4.1.2. The issue with texting/MMS is that an MMS will be received and a download button will be present. I click on the download button and then a new message entry shows up that says "Unknown Sender" and no picture. I am not sure what has caused this. This issue began a few days ago. Also, sometimes when a text message is received. I can read the text in the list view...that lists the different conversations with different people...but then when I click on the conversation to bring up all the messages for that person...all it says is "received: XX:XX:XX". No words.

To resolve this issue, I said i would root it and re-install the stock JB update.

I attempted to root using Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v23, unfortunately, I am not sure if I am rooted. However, SuperSU states that there are binary files and then closes. SuperUser does nothing at all, but it does open...but does not ask for root access.

When attempting to enter recovery mode to do a factory reset, I get the dead android with the exclamation point inside of a red triangle.

I am not sure where to go from here. I just want to reinstall the stock rom or some other rom to resolve this stupid text messaging issue...any assistance will be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums!!! :D

I moved your thread over to the root forum for your device. The root users in here can give you better advice on how to solve your issue. :)

Good Luck!! :)

You can try the thread for downgrading to v5 from thermalpaste and then root with the newest Bin4ry. Then install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper back up the root install 4.1 via OTA update then use voodoo to restore the root.
