Root LG Vortex....ROOTED!!!

The app is called z4root. Find it in the market and install. Go into the settings and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE USB DEBUGGING CHECKED.

Run the app and VOILA! Root!

Now will someone please come up with some ROMS?

P.S.

One of the main reasons that I got this phone is because it reminded me of the very first Android ever.....my long gone and VERY sorely missed Sprint HTC Hero.

Rooting gives you superuser access to the phone. With that you can remove bloatware, install custom kernals, and install custom ROMs. You can also install apps that will turn your phone into a wireless hotspot, without paying the ridiculous fees charged by some carriers to use that feature. Try using the search feature of this site, it will give you tons of info. Welcome to the forum.

Yeah I think I had to download it from a website and then use ES File Explorer to install it once it saved to the SD card.

OK, I got the .zip file downloaded and extracted to it's folder containing 3 folders and 3 files. I am guessing that the next step is to get that folder onto the SD card in my Vortex - Right? Then what? Don't want to screw this up...
New to Android and Vortex, years of PC experience. This looks like a blast, but I want it to be from the right end!

problem is keeping it downgraded. the update requests to apply daily, and if you dont hit "defer" in a timely manner, it automatically applies the update. wtf
