LGP500 Latest firmware and update (issues/benefits)

Hi.
i'm currently using stock rom, froyo 2.2.2, S/w version Mar28 2011 (India)
I've been keen on upgrading to GB but havent heard quite some good things about it.
so can someone tell me,
what is currently the latest firmware for O1
and should i upgarde to GB from froyo..??
is it better or worse??

sucks as in about how much?
10-20% differnce or 50-60%?

In froyo after 12hours of i had 20% battery left in V20b i get just 8hours ..
so 40%sucks
but V20c has one advantage it has better baseband which helps in geeting 60% more network signal
