LGUS991, question about 6.0.1

Lurker
I have a LG G4 (US991, the US Cellular unlocked version) running Android 6.0.0 on AT&T. With no way to update to 6.0.1 OTA, is it worthwhile to update via the us99120c_03_0129.kdz file using the LG Flash Tool? I am assuming doing so would require a CSE flash and wiping previous data (not a normal flash?). Has anyone done so, and what's the chance of bricking? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Do any G4's have 6.0.1 released on stock firmware yet? As far as I was aware running a custom ROM is the only way to get 6.0.1 at the moment. Pardon my ignorance but I am a British user and unfamiliar with the many different US versions myself.
As far as I am aware you can flash the kdz using LGUP (as long as is correct for your model). But if I remember right it does wipe the system. Do you have a link to the XDA thread that kdz is linked?
There is always a chance of bricking but if you are following the instructions correctly and definately flashing the correct firmware chances are minimal.

If you can link the thread we can take a look as I can't find it, I can find the download from Autoprime so I assume there must be a thread somewhere.

Thank you for the reply. You know, I just assumed, quite possibly incorrectly, that the US99120c version, released in February 2016 (from the LG website) was the upgrade to 6.0.1. I have been unable to verify if this is the case. My G4 is running software version US99120a; LG lists a 20b and a 20c, dated January and February 2016, on their site.

Whats even more confusing is that I have seen references to 20b being the upgrade to Marshmallow (yet I'm showing 20a and Android 6.0.0 on my G4). So, what 20b and 20c change, I have no clue.

I assume 20a, 20b & 20c are all MM. not sure how yours work but the European version H815 firmwares ran something like this
V10a (LP 5.1.x version 1)
V10b (LP 5.1.x version 2)
...
V10h (LP 5.1.x version 8)
V20a (MM 6.0.0 version 1)
V20b (MM 6.0.0 version 2)
...
V20i (MM 6.0.0 version 9)

When we get Nougat (6.5/7.0 however they go this time) I am assuming our firmware will be V30a...

As far as I'm aware there is no official release to 6.0.1 for G4 as yet, but there will be aesthetic difference, probably just security patches and the like. I am running a CM ROM with 6.0.1 and very little difference apart from the CM mods.

If you want 6.0.1 you can see if your version is able to unlock bootloader and flash a custom ROM but if you aren't into tinkering with the phones guts and just a standard user it's probably not worth it.

Certainly does not appear taking a chance on bricking (however slim) and having to reinstall everything for rather insignificant changes is worthwhile. Have to say I like my G4, have had no issues, not gonna mess with it.

Thank you again for the input and advice.
