Help Link isn't working to Telenav

Docfxit

Lurker
I have an HTC 4g.
It used to be when I did a search in Google and clicked on directions it would give me a choice of either Google Navigation or Telenav. Now it goes directly to Google Navigation. I have called Sprint and they don't know how to fix it. I have called HTC and they don't know how to fix it. I have called Telenav and they don't know how to fix it. I have Uninstalled the Telenav updates, restarted the phone and updated Telenav. Telenav is preloaded on this phone so I can't uninstall it completely.
Does anyone know how to re-establish the link from Google?

Thanks,

Docfxit

Hey, Docfxit, I have moved this into the Evo 4G forum, so that the folks who know this phone best can help you out.:)

Settings, Apps, choose Maps (by Google) and on LAUNCH BY DEFAULT, tab on "Clear defaults" :)

Yup! Harry knows his stuff.

Btw, my name is Kenji and I'm with Telenav. If you ever have any questions, please don't let me know by contacting me at kenjio at telenav dot com.

Cheers!

Thank you very much for the reply...

I tried clearing the defaults. That didn't work.
I tried clearing the cache. That didn't work.
I tried uninstalling the updates. That didn't work.
I tried re-booting the phone. That didn't work.
I tried disabling maps. That didn't work.
I tried clearing the cache in Google Search. That didn't work.
There are no defaults set in Google Search.
I tried uninstalling the updates in Google Search. That didn't work.

When I do a search in Google and click on directions it still goes directly to maps.google.com without giving me a choice to select Telenav.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Docfxit

Maybe another browser is worth to try.

Not quite the same issue ... in another thread a poster said, after installing Dolphin HD he hadn't any more problems with links on web sites.

Harry
This may be of assistance...in that thread is another link but both are related
Hope it helps:)

I did find Settings, Applications, App associations,
Physical address was set to Maps, I changed it to TeleNav
Map address was set to Maps, I changed it to TeleNav
I re-booted the phone. No change.

For to use my navigation app (Navigon) with a Google Maps location, I use the app 'Place Saver' as work-around.

A few steps more ... but maybe it's helpful for you :)

Let you be linked to Maps, share the location with 'Place Saver' and save the location in 'Place Saver'. Leave Maps and start 'Place Saver', choose the saved location and tap on Directions (not Navigate !).
Directions will let you choose TeleNav :)

... as I said, a few steps more ... ;)
