Linux on Android?

[Kahroo]

So I heard you can install Linux on phones/tablets. I was wondering how good is Linux on phones? I bet it is laggy, but how laggy?

Also if I installed Linux on my phone dose that mean I can play PC Minecraft?

the lag and such depends on the device it is being ran on, usually its best to run it on something with 1ghz processor and atleast 512 /768mb of ram.
and there are several different distro's of modified linux OS's for phones / tablets.
im sure if you find the right one you can play PC minecraft but isnt there a mobile version?

There is a mobile version tried it and I didn't like it. I liked playing it on my laptop before that went.

Actually you're already using a Linux kernel mobile OS on your "Device(s): HTC EVO V 4G", it's called Android.

Yep. But with installing Linux on your phone, you need to be rooted. You also need to be using a kernel that supports swap

I am rooted/S-Off. And I think the Anthrax kernel can do swap. I'll have to look into this some more. Would be nice to play Minecraft again. Hehe kinda addicted to it. X3

Yup and I'm not a fan of it.

i am guessing the OP wants to use a virtual machine like some of us do on our laptops, and running different OSs without repartitioning and dual/triple-booting the computer to do so. there are some things that won't run on Android (which is a Linux as far as the kernel is concerned) but will run on more desktop-type distros that include the necessary binaries and system bits
