Linux pc

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot I didn't know where to put it.
A friend of mine wants to let me borrow his pc but it's Linux not windows. Is there anyway to make this work to upgrade to I c s or to flash custom rom's, etc?
I'm thinking probably not since Kies and Odin work with windows only.
Thank you

Definitely. I have used Linux to root my tablet. For most devices, there should be a Linux equivalent. In fact, I found rooting my tablet on Linux easier than rooting my phone on Windows due to drivers (no need to install drivers on Linux). What device do you have?

So...how would one update since Kies is for Windows? Or would this be using something like an SDK and ABD script? In which case, maybe by the time ICS is OTA, they might have some of the problems worked out.

Thanks for that back! Won't bother trying with mine then. Fortunately, I have access to a crusty old Vista laptop that's got Kies on it...
