how do I sync my android phone with Linux Thunderbird? Id there an app for this?

Hi & welcome
To sync emails you can set up your imap email account details in the email app on your phone.
You should be able to sync contacts via a google account. You can create one, sync it with thunderbird and add it to the accounts on your phone and add it in the contacts app as a source of contacts. (I think that could work)
