Hi all, help please!!
Last week I started experiencing charging problems with my Samsung Galaxy S2. Namely, yellow triangular sign coming up when battery was on charge, sometimes it charged, sometimes it failed to charge although it appeared to be charging. I went into T Mobile who gave me a new battery to try and the phone still worked - but then the phone stopped charging completely and so with no power, I took it in for repair.
The phone has arrived back from the Samsung Repair Centre as 'liquid ingress - not always identifiable from external inspection' and so has not been repaired under warranty. After discussion with T Mobile, I rang up the repair centre whose abrupt and unhelpful customer service advised contrary to T Mobiles advice, that they would not be able to repair it without replacing the full board which is at a cost higher than a replacement phone - and it is unlikely that any attempts to repair by other places would work in the long term (as once rust has set in it is difficult to stop without replacing the whole main board). They decided this without looking at the pictures I have been provided with of the damage - which to me look very minor - although what do I know!
I have never dropped this phone in water or anything and am wondering anybody elses opinion on whether it is worth trying to get repaired elsewhere? And if so where to go? I have 7 months left on my contract with T Mobile and am not insured for this breakage.
The other thing I was going to try was to take it to T Mobile and see if the phone starts with a fully charged battery then if it does, buy a spare battery and get an external charger - would be a pain to charge but if it works at least I could get more use out of my phone - your thoughts???
Thank you!
