One link I sure don’t see at Play is recently released apps, shown by category. Like this one at AppBrain.

AppBrain never gets a chance to update anything.

I don’t seem to have that problem. I just tap Sync and the updates show right up.
 
My list of top apps goes like this

1) ES File Explorer
2) Dolphin HD browser
3) Temple run brave
4) Kaspersky Mobile Security
5) Lost Phone
 
1) K-9 - email client
2) Opera Mobile - web browser
3) Hackers Keyboard - far superior keyboard than what Android has built in
4) Better Terminal Emulator Pro - 99% of what I use it for is ssh where I find it to be a superior ssh client to ConnectBot simply because it works landscape.
5) Yahoo! Messenger - it's how I flirt with the ladies
