Listening to music THROUGH a blue tooth ear piece

Is anyone able to listen to their music thru their ear piece?
I hear it through the phone.
I hear it through a set of speakers jacked into the mini plug.
AND, can hear it through the ear piece WHEN I am on a call.

But otherwise I can not listen through the ear piece.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I think the earpiece must support the A2DP Bluetooth profile, which is for streaming music over Bluetooth. If it isn't streaming the music over Bluetooth, its likely your headset might not support it.

So then, WHY do I hear it when I am in a call? My thinking is that it either works..... or it doesn't. Not, it only works some of the time.
Ya follow me?

Probably because the phone is just sending all audio to the earpiece during a call. The calling profile and the music profile are entirely separate. But the earpiece itself doesn't support it outside of the phone call.

Is that indictative of the software? No work arounds?
Wait, so you are saying its a "blue tooth" feature, NOT an Eris issue?
Just spoke with Plantronics.
You are correct. Plantronics only makes one headset, calld "Back Beat", that allows for that streaming.
Thanks for the insight.

The eris specs indicate that a2dp is supported. However, if I'm not mistaken, most of the headsets that do a2dp are stereo ones. Are you using a monaural headset typically used for calls?

Yes, I am. And these are all things that I have subsequently learned.
At least THIS, is not a Eris issue.
Thanks.

I've got a jawbone icon and its the best, had the jawbone 1 & 2 as well. I drive a semi truck and they work real good over all the truck noise.

Sent from my Eris using Tapatalk

I finally found my old Motorola H500 headset, charged it, and tested it. It didn't work very well with my Eris. Crackling & dropping out for listener. I would like to find another bluetooth headset for use in the car and for streaming audio while at work. Any user comments on brands & quality of bluetooth headsets with your Droid Eris would be appreciated. :D

Sorry for highjacking your thread. I thought I posted this as a new comment.

I have the motorola T505 in my car. It streams music over bluetooth excellently and works great for phone calls. A much better setup then a headset for the car at least. Not sure what your looking for though.

I use the Jabra Cruiser in my car, it has an fm transmitter so my music is sent via bluetooth to the headset, to the car.
