Lithium Polymer?

When are phones going to start using lithium polymer batteries instead of lithium ion? I keep reading how much smaller the batteries can be...

If I recall correctly, Lithium-Polymer batteries have a tendency to explode if dropped or handled violently.

This might be just on specific types of those, iPhone uses Li-Po and I've never heard of one exploding. Airsoft guns however, I have heard many Li-Pos exploding after being dropped.
