I heard that NYC and UK is getting the phone tomorrow, what is up with that? I guess we will find out if you come back with one!

From what T-Mobile has told me, they are releasing the phone first to the areas that have the 3G network. Like NY, Miami, Atlanta, etc. As the other major metro areas come online they will expand the phone offer. Supposedly, they are doing several areas per week and should have all the major areas done by the end of the year.

I hope my area gets is SOON. If you look at my cingular 3G coverage my entire county is solid. Being near LA and San Diego helps.

That was a pretty good press release! 45 minutes... pretty good show of the phone.. got some questions answered, etc.

and $179, you really can't beat that!

I may have to switch to T-Mobile. ;)

p.s. On a side note, I wonder if Rob will be shaking hands with the Google guys..

Okay, I logged into the T-Mobile site and it had "order the G1" in a graphic in the middle of the page. I did that and it is on it's way a month from now!

Wow Live Blog was Epic Fail for most part. More on that later. I'm going to do a post called, "Confessions of a Live Blog Failure" hehe... should be kind of interesting, actually.

If it will work on any GSM network, it will work on ATT no?
If it will work on any GSM network, yes. In the presentation however, they said the G1 is simlocked to T-Mobile. It is probably a matter of time before that's hacked, though, as the Android platform is opensource. We'll see.
