X2, the first thing I did was use a live wallpaper when I got the phone ln launch day. After a month I turned it off and wow! Didnt realize how much smoother everything ran without them.True and I no longer use live wallpapers for that reason.
True and I no longer use live wallpapers for that reason.
I haven't noticed this. When the wallpaper isn't being used, it sits idle and uses no cpu. (At least the ones I use don't.) I've used System Panel to watch cpu usage, and they don't seem to do anything when not visible. I can switch from app to app to app, and as long as I don't return to the home screen and display the wallpaper the cpu usage remains unchanged.
I suppose there might be a slight lag when you switch away from the wallpaper, if it needs to save it's state for some reason, and there's certainly a slight lag when returning to the home screen before the wallpaper starts up. (That in and of itself seems to indicate the wallpaper is inactive when not visible.
