Help Load weather app without widget?

UncleMike

I really like the weather "app" that you get when you tap on the weather widget, but I have no need for the widget itself, and see no other way to get to the "app". Am I missing something? Is there a way to load the app without having the widget on my home screen?

No, not really. It is for the widget , but it also pumps the weather via the alarm clock. This does not really help you. I use weather bug... there are many other, less memory/network intensive apps than the bloatware weather app/widget that come with the system.

I sue Weather Bug Elite and like it a lot. I montor the wearthjer in four different locations.

I use Fancy Widgets to display the time and date. I set the date (when clicked) to call Weather Bug Elite to display the weather information.

If you are going to place the shortcut on a home screen, then you can resize the widget to 1x1. Looks a bit hideous but it does provide the temperature. If you are seeking to launch the app from the app drawer, than I have no suggestions.

I don't like the way it looks at 1x1 either, but my main goal here was to not have a frequently updating widget on my home screen. I see now way of controlling how frequently it updates, and since it doesn't present all the information I typically want, I always end up opening the "app" anyway, so I see no need to expend battery or data use on the widget itself. Plus, I'm not really a big fan of widgets in the first place.
