Root Loaders not working still stuck!

Without knowing the version of android you were coming from, it's probably easiest to flash back to stock.

If you can connect with Odin, it means you have appropriate drivers already installed so all you need to do is go to [STOCK ROM] Odin3 One-Click Downloader and Drivers CAPTIVATE ONLY - xda-developers and get the I897UCJF6 - Odin3 One-Click Downloader.

Put the phone into download mode by shutting the phone off. Remove the battery and you can take ouot the sim and sd card too. Put the battery back in, hold the vol. down and vol. up buttons and plug in the usb cable. Once in download mode, just run the file you just downloaded (it includes both odin and the stock rom.)

This will put you back to Android 2.1 completely AT&T stock. From there you will need to update the phone via Kies mini (regular kies will not connect to the captivate), first to 2.2 and then to 2.3. Now you will be ready to root and flash a custom rom safely.

When you flash a phone that goes back to stock and clears all memory the first time it boots it could stay on the splash screen for several minutes before it moves on. I'll bet the flash worked, you just didn't give it long enough to rebuild.

Reflash it again and this time let it go for 5 to ten minutes.
