Apps Location based data

I am doing a school project for which I need to get location based information such as retail stores, banks, atms, health clubs, etc.,.

Is there any website or web service that will provide the data in a structured format (XML) or do I have to use the google/yahoo search and parse the HTML ? Please provide me some examples (URLs, query string), if you know any tricks.
