There are a couple of apps that will apply pin/passwords to various apps on your phone, I've not used any myself, but there's a few here: App Lockers.
As the Gmail account is tied to your handset, I presume Google think the Pin/password you enter when you unlock the handset should be sufficient security.

By the way , i dont use pin .. i use pattern to unlock handset.
I'll give this a try myself. I do have a couple of apps that have info DH needs access to, but I don't want anyone else who might pick up my phone to get into. I've heard hiding an app (making it invisible to browsing the drawer) is possible, but I'm not sure how I'd then be able to use it.
