I'm unable to turn off the lock screen pin. It started after I removed Exchange server. I've tried the steps the following steps.

1. Settings
2. lock screen
3. screen lock (secured with pin)
4. enter your pin: if entered correctly this will bring up the screen lock menu
5. select your screen lock, (swipe, motion, face unlock, face & voice, pattern, pin, password, none)
6. choose what you want.

However, when I get to step 5 all the options are grayed out except the one that says password.
Please help. Thanks

Try going to the main setting menu & look under Security & select Device Administrators & see if it doesn't still list Email or Exchange- if so, disable it, then go back through the steps you did before.

Its not there.

Any way you can add the exchange server back, disable it as a device administrator, & then remove it? I know you have to usually disable something as DA prior to uninstalling to avoid issues like partial uninstalls...

You don't perchance have your whole phone encrypted, do you (when you reboot, have to enter a PIN to boot)? I think I remember seeing that when this is the case, the phone may not let you have anything but a PIN lock- could be wrong about that though, it's been a while since I ran across it...

That was it!! My SD was encrypted. Once I unencrypted it, I was able to take the lock screen off. Thanks for all the help!!!

I have same problem with Samsung Galaxy S5. Once I setup a mail connection to my Exchange Email server all Screen Lock choices are grayed out except for PIN and Password, including the 'none' option. If I go to Device Administrator it shows "Email" with a check mark, and "Android Device Admin" with no check. I can uncheck email and that will get all my Screen Lock choices back but will delete my Exchange Server settings and mailbox.

Is there no way to have the Galaxy S5 setup with Exchange and to have NONE as the option for screen lock password?

Saw directions on the S4 that you could clear credentials, but I am not showing any credentials on the S5. Also I do not have an SD card, so no encryption. And the phone is not encrypted either.

Any thoughts on what else can be tried?

Ok, to all who have a galaxy S3: yes you can remove the pin lock screen through the menu! No flash this or reset that, it's a waste of your time! Your going to brick your phone with all that crap! Very easy, here goes:
1. settings
2. lock screen
3. screen lock (secured with pin)
4. enter your pin: if entered correctly this will bring up the screen lock menu
5. select your screen lock, (swipe, motion, face unlock, face & voice, pattern, pin, password, none)
6. choose what you want.
yes, it's that easy!
Googled for a couple days straight and found nothing like this. Was going through my phone when I just lucked out and figuired it out. Just wanted to give back to these forums for all the help they give me.
