Lock screen time out

When I get to the lock out screen (the one where you need to slide to unlock the phone or put it in silent mode), it just display for around 5 to 10 seconds. This is time enough to unlock it or not, but I would like to make it longer.

Is there any way to change this time?

Yes, you press Menu, then Settings, then Display, then select Screen timeout. There are several choices there.
